What I'm doing now

Nov 03, 2026

Working

I work at Knock on tooling for customer communication. I recently shipped workflow and broadcast analytics, which involved going deep on ClickHouse. Now I'm working on a new project with ClickHouse, Postgres, and WarpStream.

On the side, I'm building a small multiplayer game with an analytics pipeline to learn more about Elixir, database performance, and distributed systems. You can check out my personal syllabus and notes.

Fitness

I've been climbing for ~18 months and am climbing 5.11-5.12 and V4-V5. I recently made a hangboard timer for my no-hang workouts, and I'm psyched to train for next summer.

I've also started making wooden holds for our home wall. I use a jigsaw for rough shaping, an angle grinder for carving, and a sander for finishing.

Learning

I'm still learning Japanese. I'm on level 26 of WaniKani and halfway through Genki 1.

I've also been learning to draw. I'm following Drawabox and working on the 250 box challenge.

I'm learning piano and love Sebastien Skaf's covers. I recently learned Wolven Storm and Près de Lui, and I'm working on Rivellon and Bellhart.

Family

We have 3 kids and have a lot of fun reading, playing music, hiking, paddleboarding, and skateboarding together.

We also have two cats, Monroe and Rosalee (named after the show Grimm).

I've also been baking and cooking a lot.
